Nene –what Baby Bear says when she wants to breastfeed :)

Baby Bear is now 14 months old.  She’s been walking like a pro since 13 months of age. :)

She also stopped bottle feeding.  Absolutely refuses the bottle, whether it contains breastmilk or any other milk.

Her current vocabulary:

Mommy, Daddy, Aya (for ahia/kuya), Yaya, chia chia (Chinese for eat), Nene (for dede), Nanay (for our senior maid), Ama (for my mom), eyes, eas (ears), da dat (what’s that?), was dis (what’s this?)  😀

Help for the bear in big school

posted in: Kuya Bear (Tags: , , ) - No Comments

Mama Bear and Papa Bear have not been bear-y good with updating this family blog.

It’s not easy to have a little bear in big school.  Kuya Bear is now in Kinder 1.  He loves his big school, despite the fact that it’s more difficult than his former (small) school.

But of course, he now has homework.  And tests.  And seatworks.

Papa Bear and I try to help him cope with understanding how big school works.

This is a great resource I’ve found where nice worksheets can be had and printed for free:  http://www.kidslearningstation.com/

Baby walking

posted in: milestones, Shobe Bear (Tags: , , ) - No Comments

Last month, at 1 year and 1 month, my Baby Bear finally learned to walk on her own.  She did it much earlier than her Kuya, who walked at 1 year 3 months.  People say that girls generally walk and talk earlier, and I guess that’s true for my kids.

Walking is one of the major milestones.  When she walked, I really felt like I do not have a baby but a toddler now.  While it’s cause for celebration, there’s a little tinge of sadness that my little Baby is growing up…fast.

Red day

Mama Bear’s grandmother celebrated 90 years of life!

Since this is a milestone birthday, my uncles and aunts (my dad has passed away years ago) went all out so Ama could have a grand celebration.

Relatives from all over the world came over.  It was a grand reunion too, since some of our relatives live very far away and we don’t really get to see much of each other.

As with a traditional Chinese wedding, all of us were in red.  It was elegant in an understated way.  Not loud like most Chinese celebrations.  Just right for my Ama.

First birthday of my Baby Bear!

Finally, my little girl turns one!

We just had a simple celebration on her actual birthday.  It was a weekday so we just celebrated at home with a small cake and ordered food from Mr Sun Moon.

Her McDo celebration came on Sunday morning.  It just happened to be Father’s Day. The theme was Mulan because I wanted a kick ass female character and since she’s very Chinese looking (dapat lang), Mulan it is!

Since it was just a simple celebration, we only had a few suppliers.

Here they are:

  • McDonald”s Greenhills
  • Gateau de Manille
  • Vente, Edeng’s — Market Market
  • Brussel Sprouts

Will post more details and some pics soon!

Cheescake and carrot cake

posted in: online finds, recipes (Tags: , ) - No Comments

I few months ago, I saw this recipe for baked cheesecake.  I’ve always wanted to try my hand in baking but I do need an easy recipe.  Easy but delicious, that is.  This definitely did not disappoint.  I already baked this three times!  Let me look for the picture of the cake and I’ll post it when I find it. :)

This looks like an easy enough carrot cake recipe for me to follow.  Hmmm, will try it out!

Teacher:  E, if you don’t do _______, I’ll bring Shobe home.

Kuya Bear:  Noooo……Shobe goes home with us because we love her.

Awwwww…..

Waving bye bye

Just had to post this before I forget.

Shobe Bear suddenly started waving bye bye this month.  Or was it late last month?  I’m not very sure about the exact date, but she’s doing it like a pro! :)

Baby Bear Standing!

For a few seconds at a time, anyway 😀

Girl Bear just got more courageous about letting go of whatever she’s holding on to at the moment.

Moments like this, Papa Bear and I just try to savor the moment, as we know that her days of babyhood are definitely numbered.

Pretty soon, she’ll be walking on her own.  I’m excited and sad at the same time.

Where Is?

Mama Bear:  E, you want to watch Madagascar?

Kuya Bear:  Where’s Madagascar?

Papa Bear:  On the other side of the world.

Kuya Bear:  Where’s the world?

Papa Bear:  In the solar system.

Kuya Bear:  Where’s the solar system?

Mama Bear:  In the Milky way

Kuya Bear:  Where’s the Milky Way?

Papa Bear:  In the Universe.

Kuya Bear:  Where’s the Universe?

Papa Bear:  In the Hand of God.

Kuya Bear:  Where is God?

Papa Bear:  In Heaven.

Kuya Bear:  Where is Heaven?

Papa Bear:  Only God knows… Halika na nga!
